What are Polarised lenses?
|
|
Polarized lenses are used in sunglasses to reduce glare from reflective
surfaces such as the surface of water or the hood of a car. They accomplish this
through a process called polarization, much like a venetian blind controls
sunlight through a window. Sunlight itself is not polarized - light from the sun
will either be absorbed or reflected horizontally, diagonally or vertically. The
problem this causes lies in the horizontal reflectivity. Sunlight bouncing off a
horizontal surface will strike the viewer's eyes at a similar angle. This means
the glare from the surface of the water or the road or the car hood will be
B. Polarized lenses have a laminated surface containing vertical stripes.
These stripes only allow vertically-polarized light to enter the wearer's eyes.
Glare is eliminated because the horizontally-polarized lightwaves cannot bypass
the polarized filter.

What is UV Protection?
|
|
The sun emits ultraviolet radiation which is damaging to the eyes. Lenses
with ultraviolet protection prevent that harmful radiation from touching your
eyes. Polycarbonate, high index, polarized, and sun-sensitive lenses all
automatically contain UV protection. Hard resin lenses need an additional
coating to add UV protection. According to United States Federal law, all
sunglasses sold in the United States must have UV protection. However, many
low-priced sunglasses for sale through street vendors do not comply with this
rule. Using tinted lenses without UV protection is extremely damaging to your
eyes, because the dark tint causes your pupils to dilate and increases the
surface area of your retina that can be damaged by the ultraviolet
radiation.

Things you should know about Sunglasses
|
|
DesignerNameSunglasses.com, the internet’s largest retailer of discount designer sunglasses offers over
25 brands of sunglasses at prices discounted as much as 20-70% off retail. We
carry hot designer sunglass brands such as Gucci, D&G, Dior and Tom Ford,
well as the ultra-cool sport sunglass brands such as Ray Ban. All of these
brands are always offered at a discount!
There are many different lens
and frame technologies on the market today. When choosing a frame/lens, be sure
to pick sunglasses that fit close to your face and works with your lifestyle.
Active people may be better off with a plastic frame and polycarbonate plastic
lens, as they are more impact resistant and lightweight as compared to glass
lenses which are heavier and scratch resistant. Many sunglasses also have
polarized, mirrored and photochromic lenses to provide extra protection in high
light situations.
Most importantly, sunglasses protect your eyes from
harmful Ultraviolet radiation (UV). UV radiation comes naturally from the sun
and is comprised of invisible rays that can be classfied into three different
types. The three bands of UV light are: UVA, UVB and UVC. UVA & UVB are the
ray one should be concerned with when purchasing sunglasses. When our eyes are
exposed to direct sunlight, these rays can be damaging to the cornea and retina
and can eventually cause cataracts. Wearing sunglasses reduces the strain on the
eyes, eliminates the sun’s glare and, therefore, reduces the chance of getting
cataracts. When purchasing a pair of sunglasses, be sure the lenses block at
least 98% of these UV rays. Many of the higher quality sunglass lenses on the
market claim to block 100% of these damaging rays. ALL of the discount
sunglasses available for sale at DecorMyEyes.com provide 98-100% protection from
harmful UV radiation.

Frame Sizes SAMPLE Illustration
- Frames often come in a variety of sizes.
- Higher numbers equal larger frames.
- Frame size measurements are always in millimeters.
- Measurements usually appear on the inside of the temple, sometimes on the
inside of the bridge.
- Frame size is often a personal preference and most frame sizes accommodate
the average head.
- If needed, adjustments for a comfortable custom fit
can be made by any optical store in your area.

Fitting Guide - Choosing the right frame and
color
The appropriate size for
sunglasses and eyeglass frames should be proportionate with
the face size, which means that smaller eyeglasses frames and
sunglasses are the best for smaller faces while larger eyewear
look better on larger faces. The frame shape should
contrast the shape of the face (rectangle frame with a round
face). These tips are not rules, but they can assist you
in choosing the best frame for every face.
FACE SHAPES
 |
Oval Face |
Any
style works for persons with an oval shape. Try with the latest looks
such as wraparounds or shields. Also sqaure shaped frames with gently
rounded edges and higher temples also look fabulous on an oval face. |
|
Suggested Frames : Any frame shape.
|
 |
Round Face |
This
face type should look for frames equal to or slightly wider then the
broadest part of the face. To make the face appear longer and
thinner, you may minimize the curves and add definition with soft,
angular, rectangular styles or double brow styles. To create a longer
profile try frames with higher temples. Sunglasses with brow bars also
pull the eye upward, making the face appear longer.
|
|
Suggested Frames: Wider frames with angular /rectangular styles
|
 |
Diamond Face |
This
face shapes consists of wide or high cheekbones with a narrow forehead
and chin. To soften the contour of the face we recommend oval
sunglasses. Another fit that will work well with this face is a soft
curves square frame. The styles should be no wider then the top of the
cheekbones
|
|
Suggested Frames: Oval , Square, Rimless
|
 |
Square Face |
This
face shape has a B jaw line, a broad forehead and wide cheekbones. Soft
curvy styles will reduce the angles of your face and give you more
definition such a cat eyes. We recommend classic ovals for the the face
type/shape.
|
|
Suggested Frames: Round, Cat Eyes
|
 |
Oblong Face |
You may widen and shorten the face with sunglass styles that do not go
beyond the widest part of the face. This face type looks better with
round or square shapes. Frames with short horizontal and long vertical
lines will also fit well. Adding decorative or contrasting templates
will make the face look wider.
|
|
Suggested Frames: Round, Square
|
 |
Triangle Face |
Triangular shape faces usually have a narrow jaw and wide
forehead. The lower portion of the face can be softened by accenting
the eye area. Styles such as cat eyes should angle outward at the
top corner and be wide enough to balance the jaw line. We recommend
trying metal frames with rimless
|
|
Suggested Frames: Frames with a straight top line, Cat Eyes Triangular shape faces usually have a narrow jaw and wide forehead.
|
SKIN TONE
Pale Complexions
We recommend trying lightweight frames like those with a
touch of color such as a rose or amber. Tortoiseshell
frames look great on persons with fair complexions (avoid
darker versions) but clear, blue or green tinged frames may
drain color from cheeks.
Dark Complexions
Olive Mediterranean, Golden or Asian skin
and dark hair look stunning in silver, gold or clear
frames. Avoid black, which can be too heavy for your
complexion.
